Our camps intro series shares a little more about the camps and lodges that make up The Pack and takes you a little deeper into each property.
Wildtrack Safaris Eco Lodge is located in Eastern Chobe region along Botswana’s border with Zimbabwe near the famed historical Hunter’s Road, Wildtracks has a unique position and feel.
Located on privately owned land the lodge has been built using permanent materials not usually seen in Botswana’s camps and lodges with a vaulted thatch ceiling over the main area and rondavel style rooms nestled into the bush.
The wildlife and landscape are also a great contrast to the Delta landscapes with a more bushveld habitat and thus different game being seen such as Roan and Sable antelope, Eland and Common Duiker. Game is often seen drinking at the waterhole visible from the lodge and on occasion a shy leopard is even seen.
Nearby Kazuma Pan offers great ‘big sky’ experiences as well as wildlife and Wildtracks offers a substantial cheese and wine sundowner out on the pan offering a wonderful opportunity to sit back and enjoy the vastness of a clear night sky. Game drives in this area are fruitful due to the unfenced border, protected forest reserve and safari areas and parks in Zimbabwe as part of the KAZA Trans Frontier Conservation Area initiative.
Another day trip offered through Wildtrack Safaris Eco Lodge is a Hwange day trip. This starts at the border post near the lodge and winds through the open plains and rocky region of the North-western area of the park. Lunch is offered at one of the lodges before heading back to the border through this varied and intriguing landscape.
Additional activities include game drives to into Eastern Chobe and to the plains of the southern Sibuyu forest reserve and visits to the village of Pandamatenga. This starts with a welcome by the Kgosi of the village before visiting the school and micro-businesses in this agricultural town.
Wildtracks is owned by Tracey Mulder and run by her and her children who are all very proud of their lodge and are enthusiastic about sharing it with your guests. Extra touches abound and the attention to detail and care enhance your guest experience. The well laid out spacious rooms and luxurious touches such as large freestanding bath tubs, expansive mosquito nets and extra length beds result in sumptuous accommodations. The experience is completed by attentive service and carefully designed menu that makes the most of locally grown fresh produce.
